Peers Building Justice

Peer Educators

This peer education program is a collaboration between Moving to End Sexual Assault (MESA) and the Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence(SPAN). The Peer Educators are high school student volunteers who conduct presentations to middle and high school students on the issues of dating abuse, sexual harassment, and sexual assault, and oppression.

They play an important role in increasing community awareness about interpersonal violence and all forms of oppression, helping victims get support, and ultimately reducing the occurrence of violence among young people.

The Peer Educators Volunteers will receive 20 hours of training, attend program meetings twice a month, and be asked to commit to the program for one school year.

Peer Education Adult Mentors
Volunteers committed to reducing incidents of violence are needed to provide consistent, reliable support for the Peers Building Justice Peer Educators. Mentors commit for at least one school year to assist peer educators in preparing and giving presentations to Boulder area middle and high school students. Volunteers are asked to attend the Peer Education training as well as Mentor training (40 hour total), attend monthly meetings, and be available to assist/observe 4-5 presentations per month.
